🇩🇪Schleizer Dreieck

Schleizer Dreieck ("Schleiz Triangle") is a 3.805 km motorsport racing circuit at Schleiz in Thuringia, eastern Germany — the oldest racing circuit in Germany. The first event, a fuel-economy contest, was held on 10 June 1923; the first motorcycle race followed in 1924 and the first car race in 1925. The original triangular layout — formed from three public roads connecting Schleiz, Auma and the village of Saalburg, and giving the circuit its name — measured 7.631 km, and was used continuously through the East German era as a fixture of the DDR national championship and a regular Iron Curtain crossing-point for the FIM Cup of Peace and Friendship sidecar championship. The track was shortened first to 6.805 km between May and August 1988 and then to its current 3.805 km in July 2004, with successive safety modifications that retained the original character. Schleizer Dreieck is today primarily a motorcycle venue, hosting the IDM (International German Motorcycle Championship) Superbike rounds, classic motorcycle events, sidecar racing and an enthusiastic trackday programme. The technical highlights include the challenging Seng curve and the fast-flowing Buchhübel section, which preserve the feel of the original road course.
