About Hungaroring
The Hungaroring is a 4.381 km, 14-turn motor racing circuit in Mogyoród, just outside Budapest, Hungary. Constructed in only eight months from October 1985 (at the time the fastest F1 circuit build ever) it hosted the inaugural 1986 Hungarian Grand Prix on 10 August 1986 — the first Formula One race held behind the Iron Curtain. The 1986 race drew 200,000 spectators from across the Eastern Bloc, a Formula One attendance record that stood for almost a decade. The current 14-turn layout dates from a 2003 reconfiguration of the original 16-turn design. Tight, twisty and famously hard to overtake on, the Hungaroring continues to host the Hungarian Grand Prix every August and is a regular round of the FIM Superbike championships.
