Automotodrom Brno (Masaryk Circuit) is a 5.403 km, 14-corner (8 right / 6 left) motor racing circuit on the western outskirts of Brno in the Moravian region of the Czech Republic.… Read more
The circuit is named after Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, the first president of Czechoslovakia, and motor racing in Brno dates back to 1930, when the first Masaryk Grand Prix was run anticlockwise on a 29.194 km layout of public roads with the start/finish in the Brno suburb of Bosonohy. Between 1930 and 1937 the Masaryk Circuit attracted virtually every pre-war Grand Prix legend — Tazio Nuvolari, Achille Varzi, Rudolf Caracciola, Bernd Rosemeyer, Hans Stuck and Giuseppe Farina all raced here. The original road circuit hosted Czechoslovak motorcycle Grands Prix between 1965 and 1982, on a successively shortened layout that finally measured 10.92 km. The modern permanent circuit was opened in 1987 just south of the old road course and immediately took over as host of the Czechoslovak (and later Czech) motorcycle Grand Prix. The Brno round was a fixture of the MotoGP calendar from 1987 to 1991, again from 1993 to 2020, and is returning for 2025–2029 after a multi-year hiatus driven by funding and infrastructure concerns. The 73.75 m of net elevation change, 15 m wide ribbon, the fast, flowing right-left-right opening complex and the famous Stadion final-corner section have made Brno a fan and rider favourite — its long, sweeping corners are exactly the kind that motorcycle racers most enjoy. Brno also hosts WSBK in recent seasons and is the busiest motorcycle trackday venue in the Czech Republic.
