The circuit opened in 1973 and was notable for being the first French circuit ever to host a round of the European Formula 3 Championship. The compact layout is known for its long main straight and twisty in-field section, packing genuine technical challenge into a small footprint. Croix-en-Ternois is a busy fixture of the French car and motorcycle club racing calendar, hosting the French Championship of Vintage Motorcycles (VMA), the Coupe de France Sidecar Classic and rounds of the British Motorcycle Racing Club's annual calendar. The proximity to the Channel Tunnel makes it a regular destination for British trackday riders and racers crossing the channel for European tracks.
